about
One of the earlier written tracks of Middle Children's self titled album.
The original melody was written for a special performance by WAKE ( a solo project of Jay Dowling/ 2004-2009) at the Andy Warhol museum's youth invasion 2009.
The lyrical content was inspired after a show they performed. They got paid in a greasy ball of ones! Meg said to herself "this was my performance worth for tonight." She then later spent it on candy.
True story.
MIDDLE CHILDREN - Wad of Ones
There's nothing more fun than a Wad of Ones
I wanna get me some, some of them ones
There's nothin' more lame then a lack of funds
You better get someone to give you some ones
When you want something to eat
Or some shoes for on your feet
You need a wad of ones
If your gonna have some fun
Your old lady is bitchin' cause there's
nothin in the kitchen
She says her palms are itching
cause she needs some ones
I guess she just can't fake it
wants you to bring home the bacon
The dough that you can't rake in
a huge wad of ones
There's nothing more fun than a Wad of Ones
I wanna get me some, some of them ones
There's nothin more lame then a lack of funds
You better get someone to give you some ones
When you want something to eat
Or some shoes for on your feet
You need a wad of ones
If your gonna have some fun
Get your check and cash it
wad up the ones and stash them
get home from work and crash
on top of your wad of ones
If you can't earn the duckets
learn to like this hole your stuck in
throw in the towel say fuck it
Fuck this wad of ones!

This is the second in a series of weekly album reviews published by Andrew Dubber. If you haven’t already caught it, please check out his introductory post.
